Building Stronger Tourism Partnerships with Salaam Cave

18th July 2026, the ZATO Board, together with the CEO, had the pleasure of visiting Salaam Cave in Kizimkazi. The primary objective of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between ZATO and Salaam Cave following the initial discussions previously initiated by the ZATO Projects Committee. The visit also provided an opportunity for the Board to officially introduce itself, explore the attraction, gain a better understanding of its long-term vision, and discuss potential areas of collaboration that will contribute to the sustainable development and promotion of Zanzibar’s tourism industry.

Mr. Saleh, who provided an overview of the history and vision of Salaam Cave, shared the historical background of Kizimkazi, explaining the story of Mzee Kizi, who is believed to have arrived in the area by traditional dhow. Inspired by this heritage, Salaam Cave has incorporated cultural and historical elements into the attraction, including a unique dhow-themed and “Titanic-inspired” photo experience designed to enhance visitors’ overall experience.

The visit was an opportunity to explore this unique attraction, learn about its inspiring vision for the future, and strengthen the relationship between our two organizations. We also held productive discussions on how we can work together to promote Zanzibar’s incredible tourism experiences.
